EDUCATION APPROVAL FORM REQUIRED APPEARANCE AND HYGIENE POLICY CONTINUOUSLY ENFORCED (no jeans, flip flops, shorts, etc.)

Description:
This is a 4-hour class, with lecture and hands-on portion, focused on the management of ICU patients with Impella CP
Objectives:
- Describe the Impella CP with SmartAssist heart pump technology.
- Identify the key components of the Impella CP with SmartAssist device.
- Explain the function and features of the Automated Impella Controller (AIC) console.
- Explain the function and management of the Impella purge system.
- Describe target hemodynamics for a patient supported by the Impella device.
- Ensure standard of care around Impella ICU admission.
- Use the Placement and Home screens to manage the position of the Impella heart pump.
- Explain the use of echocardiography and best views in managing the position of the Impella.
- Monitor patients with low native heart pulsatility or suction.
- Manage the Impella device purge system and account for the heparin being delivered to the patient.
- Identify general patient care considerations for patients supported with the Impella device.
